Castle Stuart Golf Links has welcomed news of more flights between Inverness and Heathrow which will greatly increase leisure traffic to the Highlands.

BA has announced a 30 per cent increase in capacity on the route, from seven to ten flights a week, beginning in March next year.

The first tee at Castle Stuart is less than a five-minute drive from Inverness Airport and the course has seen a significant increase in golfers visiting the four-time Scottish Open venue since BA re-introduced the Inverness-Heathrow link in May 2016.

It believes the additional services will now see even more players heading for the Highlands.

Castle Stuart general manager Stuart McColm said: “This is another exciting development for Inverness and the Highlands. The enhanced service means this area is more accessible than ever to people around the world.

“For an increasing number of visitors, flying to Inverness is the best way of beginning a trip to Scotland, the Home of Golf, and this will give us an even greater advantage when encouraging people to come here.”
