CASTLE STUART WELCOMES EXTRA BA INVERNESS-HEATHROW FLIGHTS

Castle Stuart Golf Links has welcomed news of more flights between Inverness and Heathrow which will greatly increase leisure traffic to the Highlands. BA has announced a 30 per cent increase in capacity on the route, from seven to ten flights a week, beginning in March next year. The first tee at Castle Stuart is less than a five-minute drive from Inverness Airport and the course has seen a significant increase in golfers visiting the four-time Scottish Open venue since BA re-introduced the Inverness-Heathrow link in May 2016. The seventh annual Castle Stuart Men’s Local Open is heading for a capacity field with just a few slots left for the end-of-season competition. Qualifying events for the tournament will be held on Saturday, 4 November and Sunday, 5 November. Two teenage employees at the internationally-renowned Castle Stuart Golf Links are not letting the grass grow under their feet after completing the first part of a greenkeeping qualification. Reece Haspell and Kerr Edgar, both 17 and apprentice greenkeepers at the Moray Firth links, are studying for an SVQ in greenkeeping and sports turf.
