Budding golf caddies are being asked to make their pitch to join the acclaimed team at Castle Stuart Golf Links with record numbers of golfers flocking to the course. The four-time Scottish Open venue is seeking candidates to join the club’s respected caddy programme to meet demand from golfing visitors. During 2017, the number of players visiting the course increased by 18 per cent on the previous year and advance bookings for 2018 are also showing a 26 per cent increase on the same time last year. One of the biggest undertakings each year is gorse management and over the last three months a team of four staff has been working on cutting back the area of gorse on the course. It’s not the most glamorous part of the job, but it is an essential task to control the plant from spreading and for the overall look of the site. Castle Stuart Golf Links is seeking entries from today (Tuesday, 6 March) for the Highland Ladies’ Open, which this year will have a new format and an extended capacity. The four-time Scottish Open venue is hosting the annual event for the fourth time on Sunday, 12 August. This year the event will be an individual Stableford competition, rather than a pairs contest, and the capacity will be extended from 40 players to 56.
