Entries for this year’s Castle Stuart Local Open are flooding in, with more than a fifth of spaces snapped up by the end of the first day of booking. Qualifying rounds for the eighth men’s championship, the traditional end-of-season event, will be taking place on Saturday, 3 and Sunday, 4 November. The final will be held on Saturday, 10 November, a week before the course closes until March 2019. The 2017 event attracted 208 golfers, with Loch Ness Golf Club’s Gordon Grant taking the title, coming out on top of a 12-strong field in the final. The Local Open has grown steadily since being launched in 2011 for golfers living in the Highland postcode areas IV, KW and PH19 – PH41.
