Abernethy Golf Club member June Clark is the first individual winner of the Highland Ladies Open after an exciting competition at Castle Stuart.
June, a 24-handicapper, scored 43 points in the individual Stableford content - a change to the previous pairs format.
That was just one point ahead of Inverness Golf Club’s Elizabeth Colvin (26 handicap), whose 42 points included a spectacular hole in one at the Par 3 11th hole. Her shot, using a hybrid 5 iron, unsurprisingly also won her the nearest the pin contest.
In third place, just another one point behind, was Thelma Archer (23 handicap) from Spey Valley Golf Club, who won the prize for being nearest the Par 4 3rd hole in two shots.
The Highland Ladies Open was launched in 2015 and has become a firm fixture in the golfing calendar with players coming from across the region to take part.
The competition is open to players over 18, have a handicap of 36 or below and live in the postcode areas IV, KW or PH19-41.
As well as bacon rolls and coffee/tea on arrival, lunch and prizegiving, this year’s event included a merchandise showcase from Green Lamb, where preferential pricing was offered to all contestants.
Watch out for news on next year’s event at the Castle Stuart website.
