A cheese and wine evening for corporate guests brought together two of our valued suppliers and also started our celebration of local producers.
From Sunday 1 September, we will be showcasing some of the fantastic food and drink we serve in the clubhouse, and is sourced locally, during Scottish Food and Drink Fortnight.
The award-winning Connage Highland Dairy supplied a wonderful selection of cheeses for our relaxing and informative evening, with company owner Jill Clark on hand to talk us through such delights as Tomme de Chevre Cendree, Bonnet, Red Cow Parmesan, Connage Cromal, Epoisse, Admiral CollingWood and Hebridean Blue.
An important part of the event was discovering the magic of wine and cheese pairings, with guests taken on a journey through France, Italy, South Africa and New Zealand matching white wines such as Pino Grigio 2016, La Tunella, Collio Orientali di Fruili; Sauvignon Auvignon Blanc 2017, Eradus Estate, Marlborough; and Montagny 1er Cru Bonneveaux 2015, Olivier Leflaive ; as well as reds including Bourgogne Pinot Noir Vielles Vignes 2015, Gilles Jourdan; Mont Du TOIT 2010, Wellington, South Africa; and Crozes Hermitages Vielles Vignes 2014, Tardieu Laurent.
The wine tasting was conducted by Chris Hodgson from our provider Corney & Barrow, one of the oldest independent wine merchants in the UK, with bases in Edinburgh and Ayr.
