A regularly used word when we talk about Castle Stuart, and when players describe their experience here to us, is enjoyment. We believe that a round of golf should not be a punishment, but that it should offer a challenge in a positive way while allowing the player to enjoy the game and the surroundings.

It is encouraging therefore to see our philosophy endorsed by Castle Stuart being ranked No 8 on the Top 100 ‘Most Fun’ courses in Great Britain and Ireland, compiled by National Club Golfer.

According to their panel of experts “The Highlands has always been an extra special golfing retreat – think Royal Dornoch, Nairn and Brora – and thanks to Castle Stuart's creation it has been raised another notch”.

Explaining what makes a course ‘fun’, the commonly used words of the panel - variety, playability, personality – could be descriptions we use ourselves about Castle Stuart, along with harmony with the land, interesting greens and the ability to recover.

Our designers Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse built a modern classic and, at a time when there is serious discussion on the accessibility of golf and golf courses, this new ranking shows their thinking is increasingly the norm.

Meanwhile, Castle Stuart has also featured in a report looking at which golf courses are mentioned most on Instagram.

Experts at studied 15 of the most well-known courses on the planet and recorded the number of times each was hashtagged on the social media platform.

Scotland is the most represented country on the list, with five courses featuring in the Top 15. Not surprisingly, the Old Course at St Andrews leads the way as the location appearing most on Instagram.

However, Castle Stuart features prominently, as does Royal Dornoch and Trump International Golf in Aberdeenshire.

We are blessed to have such a stunning location, with unparalleled sea vistas, which is ideal for scenic pictures. So, keep posting and tagging.
