Finalists Ready For Castle Stuart Local Open

The battle to find this year’s Castle Stuart Local Open champion has been narrowed to 12 competitors after two qualifying rounds at the weekend.

 

A capacity field of 208 golfers competed on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 November for final spots in the eighth men’s championship, the traditional end-of-season event.

 

On Saturday, Alan Kinnaird (Inverness Golf Club) topped the qualifying table on 39 Stableford points and will be joined in the final by clubmate Liam Hutchison, David Ross (Durness GC), Jake Williamson and Greg Smith (Fortrose & Rosemarkie GC) and Fraser Oman (Tain GC) who all scored 38 points.

 

On Sunday, top scorer was Alastair Stoddart (Royal Dornoch GC) on 39 points, with Alastair Cameron and John Jack (Fortrose & Rosemarkie), Paul Clark (Invergordon GC) and Gavin Wreath (Nairn GC) on 38 and Robin Fraser (Inverness GC) on 37.

 

The final will be held over the internationally-renowned links on Saturday, 10 November. 

 

The Local Open has grown steadily since being launched in 2011 for golfers living in the Highland postcode areas IV, KW and PH19 – PH41.
